Financial literacy should not be a privilege reserved for those who can afford expensive advisors or have finance degrees. Our goal is to level the playing field by providing free, accurate, and easy-to-understand financial resources that help people at every stage of their financial journey.
Our Story
TaxMaker was born out of frustration. As Canadians navigating the complexities of tax filing, we found existing solutions either too expensive, too complicated, or too limited. Professional accountants were out of budget for simple returns, and software options often nickel-and-dimed users with upsells and hidden fees.
We asked ourselves: why should filing a straightforward tax return cost $50-100 or more? Why are financial calculators often hidden behind paywalls? Why is financial education so often written in jargon that only finance professionals understand?
So we built something different. TaxMaker started as a simple, affordable tax filing platform for Canadians. But as we listened to our users, we realized the need was bigger than taxes. People wanted help with budgeting, understanding investments, comparing financial apps, and building long-term wealth.
Today, TaxMaker is a comprehensive financial tools platform. Our calculators are free forever — no sign-up, no limitations, no premium tiers. Our guides are written in plain English for real people. Our AI tool reviews are honest, even when it means criticizing products we have affiliate relationships with.
We are building something we wish had existed when we started our own financial journeys. And we are just getting started.

Affiliate Commissions
When you sign up for a financial tool through our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is industry standard and helps fund our free tools. However, affiliate relationships never affect our rankings or recommendations. We have criticized affiliate partners when their products have problems.
Tax Filing Services
Our Canadian tax filing platform (T1 and T2 returns) generates revenue through filing fees. We keep prices affordable and transparent, with no hidden upsells or surprise charges.
Never Sell Data
We do not sell user data. Period. Calculator inputs stay in your browser — we cannot see them even if we wanted to. Tax filing data is encrypted and used solely to provide our services. We will never sell or share your information.
Future Plans
As we grow, we may introduce premium features like advanced tax planning tools or personalized insights. But our core calculators, guides, and reviews will always remain free.
